Let me ask you something: Have you ever helped a child fall asleep after a nightmare or a stomachache? Have you ever held a friend's hand as they ended a relationship? Have you ever cheered on someone as they launched a bold new idea - scared, excited, not sure if they can do it? Then... you have been a doula. I know what you are thinking - "Isn't a doula someone who helps with childbirth?" Yes. But that is only one chapter of the story. A doula is someone who walks with you through a threshold - be it birth, death, transformation, identity shift, spiritual awakening, career change - any moment where you are no longer who you were... but not yet who you are becoming.
